Personalized Mug with Cricut Maker

Personalized Mug

I love handmade and personalized things, they are prefect for gifts and adding something special to your day. Every morning I start my day with a cup of coffee from a travel mug. I love all of those cute coffee mugs, but my coffee gets cold too fast and I would definitely spill it almost every morning (which is not the way to start your day)!  Cute travel coffee mugs are not as easy to find and can be expensive, so I set out to make one with the Cricut Maker!

Make it Yours: 5 Ways to Use Mini Ball Jars

5 Ways to Use Mini Ball Jars

I stumbled across these adorable mini Ball Jars last weekend and I just had to bring them home! Some of my favorite things include Ball Jars and mini versions of things, so this was perfect…I just had to make sure I had a use for them. It only took me a couple of minutes to brainstorm how I would use them, so today I’m going to share with you 5 ways to use the mini Ball Jars in your home.

FYI, I saw them at Hobby Lobby for around $15 but ran across them at JoAnn Fabric for $6.99 (both are at regular price). I could not justify $15 for 4 mini jars, but I had a coupon for 20% off at JoAnn Fabric and that price seemed much more reasonable.

1. Sugar Container:

We keep a small container of sugar in the spice cabinet to use with coffee or when I just need a little pinch of sugar.  I had a bigger jar filled with sugar, but this is the perfect size and takes up less space.  It would work great to hold different spices too!

2. Bathroom Essentials

The mini ball jar is just the right size to hold cotton swabs. I paired it with two larger jars of cotton balls and make-up brushes for a cute grouping on the counter.

3. Votive Candle Holder

It’s  just the right size to hold a votive candle. I used a battery operated candle, so there was no mess and it is easy to use it for something else! Several jars with candles would be a great addition to a centerpiece and would add a little sparkle. Here I tucked it between vases and a picture frame on my antique washstand.

4. Safety Pin Holder

This is a much cuter way to hold safety pins, bobby pins, or hair ties. Mine were stashed in a baggy, but this is much nicer!

5. Paintbrush Holder

The mini Ball Jar is the perfect height to hold my paintbrushes in the office/craft room! It can also hold the water to clean and rinse brushes while you work.  These would be great filled with a few crayons or your favorite ink pens too.

I adore these versatile jars! The sky is the limit with how you can use them. Post below and let me know how  you like to use Ball Jars in your home!

Make it Yours: 3 Ideas for Spring

Make it Yours

A quick trip to Michael’s craft store led to some fun craft projects to update my home for spring. I hope you enjoy these projects and it inspires you to take something and make it yours!

  • Candles: $15.00 on sale
  • Spring Sign: $9.99 on sale
  • Heart Sign: $7.49 on sale

Adding Sparkle:

Spring Sign:

I plan to put the spring sign on my front porch or front door. It’s super cute, but I realized it was going to be difficult to see from a distance.  My original thought was to paint it to make the flowers and words stand out. But…when I opened the closet in the office and saw my glitter, I knew exactly what to do! I used Modge Podge and several different colors of glitter to match the decorations on my porch and really pop for spring!

Materials:

  • Sign
  • Glitter
  • Modge Podge
  • Paint brush

Finished Product:

Heart Sign:

I loved the colors of the sign and the little shine from the foil that was used. I thought about adding a monogram or something to it using vinyl and my Cricut…but decided that this was a great fit in my house just the way it is! I’m not big on decorating for Valentine’s Day, but this fits with my day to day decor since it’s neutral.

Candles:

Candles are a great way to add color and height to an area, and when they are grouped together they fill a space well. These blue candles were a great price, half off and only $15.00. They were on a timer and you get 8 candles total! Full disclosure, the votive candles are plastic, not wax, they do not have a timer function, and they do not work with remote. Also, the pillar candles will need 3 AAA batteries each, so make sure you have those on hand.

Once I opened them and noticed how different the votive candles looked from the pillars, I knew I had to get creative. The answer…glitter!

Materials:

  • Candles
  • Modge Podge
  • Paint brush
  • Glitter
  • AAA batteries

To style these candles, I used a tray I had in the closet.

I added additional height by using some votive holders I purchased on clearance and spray painted years ago.

Once I liked how it was arranged and filled the tray I glittered the votive candles.

I hope these ideas have helped you think of some fun ways to decorate for spring! You definitely don’t need any of the exact things I have, these ideas can be a jumping off point for you to make it your own!

We’re going on a trip!

My mom, Nana, and I have been to all sorts of places over the years. Well, places that we could get to by car…because Nan was scared to fly. They involved lots of pit stops and plenty of “bites to eat” along the way. We’ve been to Asheville, Memphis, Nashville, and so many other fun places.
